Dating Sites and Inbox Bombardment

Its often the case that people on dating sites are bombarded with messages and their inbox quickly gets filled with junk. Linnea wrote about one of her own experiences with this recently

I figured that was enough for the night, and decided it was time for bed. I think I had several nightmares last night revolving around instant messages, but it was still a restful sleep. I checked my email this morning and I had 64 new messages. I think about 60 of them were from Plenty of Fish.

I checked out a few of the emails and they are from people all over the country, and even a couple from other countries. They want to “chat” and would “like to get to know me better.” I can’t understand how anyone can build a real relationship with someone living in Australia or even Ohio for that matter. What are these people expecting to accomplish? I love to chat with random strangers, but I guess this was just a little overwhelming.

I guess I have discovered the downfall of free internet dating. Now I just have to discover how to stop the message notifications, so I don’t have to empty out my Inbox every morning.

Thankfully, we will only send you messages when both of you want to communicate!
